Just got myself a new outboard this summer. What should I do to engine (60 HP mariner) for the winter? What about the battery. Should I remove it?

An outboard will drain itself of water so need to be concerned about that.

    What I do with mine.

Run the engine on muffs and fog the carbs with engine storage spray.
disconnect gas and let run dry.
    Drain fuel from carbs.
Remove plugs and spray storage spray inside while turning engine over. Pull kill switch so it doesn't try to spark.

The battery I remove and store in the garage. Charge once a month or so.

What about using one of those trickle chargers?
Should I keep the battery on a piece of wood.
