hi, i have a sidesplit home that has a cement slab floor in the den.

i want to install hardwood flooring in there. the slab is at ground level, what would be the proper way to install the hardwood?

if possible i would prefer it not to be a floating floor

If you don't want it to be a floating floor then you are going to need to install plywood to nail the hardwood.

My research also tells me that you don't want to put the hardwood directly on the concrete. The wood will draw the moisture out of the concrete and will eventually fail through warping, mold, etc.

      Cheers

I have parquet glued direct to the concrete in my basement. All is well except when I get leaks in the wall. If your concrete/basement is not leaking then you could be OK gluing direct to the concrete.

I am just curious if you paint the concrete floor with a concrete sealer first would not that help prevent moisture being drawn up into any wood getting from the concrete?

It might but it also might affect how well the glue holds.
