ATT 1256 answering machine remote access help

I have an ATT 1256 answering machine but not the manual. I found the manual online but I need some assistance. Can anyone tell me what the code is to delete a message.

Here is what the PDF manual looks like. As you can see it unreadable what digit does the two function. I can make out the functions for 1,2 3,4,5,7. I can only guess it is 6,8 or 9 but none of them seemed to wok when I tried them.

Page 28 manual (31 of the pdf) has a list of the keys along the left.. look where the 9 key would be... looks like it.

#9 does it. I don't how that image looks like a 9.
